If you've spent any time researching executive certifications in brand management, you've probably noticed the same handful of names keep coming up: IIT Delhi, a couple of IIMs, and MICA. All four are legitimate, all four will look fine on a resume, and all four cost somewhere between ₹60,000 and ₹1,36,500. So the real question isn't "which one is reputable" — it's which one actually fits how you learn, what you can afford, and where you are in your career.

We looked closely at four live programmes — IIT Delhi's Executive Programme in Brand Management, IIM Amritsar's Product & Brand Management course, IIM Kashipur's Executive Development Programme in Managing Product, Brands and Branding, and MICA's Strategic Brand Management & Communications programme — to lay out exactly where they differ.

Why Delivery Format Matters More Than the Institute Name

Most people comparing these four programmes start by comparing brand names — IIT versus IIM versus MICA — and only notice the delivery format difference after they’ve enrolled. That’s backwards. For a working professional, how a programme is delivered often affects your actual learning outcome more than which institute’s crest is on the certificate.

A fully live, fixed-schedule programme like IIT Delhi’s forces consistency: you show up every Sunday whether you feel like it or not, which for most people produces better follow-through than a self-paced library of recordings that’s easy to postpone indefinitely. But that same rigidity is a problem if your job involves unpredictable travel or shift work — missing three consecutive live sessions is harder to recover from than pausing a recorded course for a month. A recorded-lecture-plus-masterclass format like MICA’s flips that trade-off: more flexibility, but it depends entirely on your own discipline to actually finish.

The honest way to think about it: if you’ve successfully finished self-paced online courses before, format flexibility won’t hurt you. If you’ve started three online courses and finished none of them, a fixed-schedule live cohort is doing you a favour by building in the structure you’d otherwise have to create yourself.

Brand Management Certification Benefits

What the IIT Delhi Programme Actually Offers

The Executive Programme in Brand Management is run through IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP) — the same body that issues certificates for the institute’s other executive courses. What sets it apart operationally is that every one of its 24 sessions is live, delivered on a fixed Sunday morning slot rather than a library of recorded videos you work through on your own time. For someone holding down a full-time job, that structure is a double-edged sword: you get real-time access to faculty and peers, but you also can’t binge four modules over a weekend if you fall behind.

The syllabus runs fifteen modules deep, covering everything from classic brand equity frameworks to luxury and global branding, and it closes with a capstone project that asks you to apply the entire framework to a brand of your choosing. The one module worth calling out specifically is the dedicated unit on AI in modern branding — covering generative AI for content and visual ideation, AI-driven monitoring, and prompt engineering for brand strategy. That’s baked into the core fee here, not sold separately.

Certification has two tiers: complete the capstone and hit 70% attendance, and you get a Certificate of Successful Completion; hit the attendance bar without finishing the capstone to standard, and you get a Certificate of Participation instead. It’s worth knowing going in that this is a CEP certification, not a full IIT Delhi degree — you won’t get an institute email ID, library access, or alumni status, though you do get direct faculty access and the IIT Delhi name on the certificate itself.

Where IIM Amritsar Wins: Speed and Price

IIM Amritsar’s Product & Brand Management course is roughly half the price and two months shorter. If you’re earlier in your career, testing whether brand management is the right specialisation before committing to a bigger spend, or simply working with a tighter budget, this is the more forgiving entry point. The trade-off is depth — a four-month online course covers the fundamentals well but doesn’t go as deep into specialised areas like luxury branding or AI-driven brand analytics the way a six-month, fifteen-module curriculum can.

Where IIM Kashipur Wins: A Campus Touchpoint

IIM Kashipur’s programme is the only one of the four with an actual in-person component — a two-day workshop on campus alongside the online sessions. If part of what you want from an executive certification is a chance to physically network with faculty and cohort peers, not just a screen full of names in a video call, this is the one built for that. It comes at the cost of scheduling flexibility, since you’ll need to block out travel and campus time on top of the weekly sessions.

Where MICA Wins: Specialist Brand Positioning

MICA isn’t a general management institute that happens to teach branding — brand and communication strategy is its entire identity, and that specialist reputation carries real weight if you’re specifically aiming for a brand strateon gy or communications role rather than a broader marketing management one. Its Strategic Brand Management & Communications programme runs 28 weeks and leans more towards recorded lectures with periodic live masterclasses, which suits people who want to learn on their own schedule rather than commit to a fixed weekly slot. The AI add-on is a genuine strength if you take it, but it’s a further ₹24,000 on top of the core fee — something IIT Delhi folds into its base price.

Who Actually Enrolls in Each of These

The eligibility criteria across all four programmes are nearly identical on paper — a graduate degree in any discipline, from any recognised university, is enough to apply. What differs is who the curriculum is actually built for.

IIT Delhi’s programme explicitly targets four groups: early-to-mid-career professionals already working in branding, communication, or advertising who want to formalise their expertise; digital marketing professionals looking to pivot into brand-focused roles; senior marketing leaders who want the end-to-end branding and communication value chain rather than a narrow specialism; and founders who need to manage their own brand strategically. If you don’t fit at least one of those four profiles reasonably well, the fifteen-module depth may be more than you need right now — the shorter, less specialised IIM Amritsar course might serve you better as a first step.

Which One Should You Actually Pick?

  • Choose IIT Delhi if you want a fixed live-cohort structure, a fifteen-module curriculum with AI/GenAI training included in the base price, and the IIT brand name specifically (rather than an IIM or specialist institute name) on your certificate.
  • Choose IIM Amritsar if you’re earlier in your career, want to move faster, or need the lower price point more than you need programme depth.
  • Choose IIM Kashipur if in-person networking matters enough to you to build travel into your schedule.
  • Choose MICA if your career goal is specifically brand strategy or communications, and you’d rather learn asynchronously than commit to a fixed weekly session.

None of these is objectively “better” — they’re solving for different constraints. The honest way to decide is to rank what matters most to you: live interaction, price, in-person time, or specialist brand positioning, and let that ranking pick the programme for you.

If IIT Delhi’s format looks like the right fit, the full syllabus, fee breakdown, and eligibility criteria are covered here, including the current application window. And if you’re still deciding whether brand management is the right direction at all, this guide on building a brand management career in India is a useful place to start before committing to any of the four.

Frequently Asked Questions

Neither is universally “more valuable” — both are institutions of national importance, and what matters more to most employers is what you can demonstrate through the capstone project and how you apply it in interviews. The certifying institute’s name helps with resume screening, but the depth of what you actually learned tends to matter more once you’re in the interview room.

IIM Amritsar’s Product & Brand Management course, at ₹60,000 + 18% GST, is the most affordable of the four, followed by MICA’s base programme before the AI add-on, then IIT Delhi, with IIM Kashipur’s fee varying by cohort.

No. All four are certificate programmes run through continuing/executive education arms, not full degree programmes, so none of them come with institute email IDs, library access, or formal alumni status — you get the certificate and, in most cases, access to an executive-education alumni network instead.

IIT Delhi’s is fully live across all 24 sessions. IIM Kashipur adds two in-person campus days to its online sessions. MICA is weighted toward recorded content with scheduled live masterclasses. IIM Amritsar’s format varies by batch, so confirm the specific cohort’s schedule before enrolling.

A shorter, lower-cost programme like IIM Amritsar’s is usually the more sensible first step, since it lets you confirm the specialisation is right for you before committing to a longer, pricier course. Professionals with 5+ years of marketing experience tend to get more out of the deeper curriculum in IIT Delhi’s or MICA’s programmes.

Increasingly, yes. Brand teams are already using generative AI for content ideation, campaign testing, and consumer sentiment monitoring, and hiring managers are starting to ask about it directly. A programme that folds this into the core curriculum, rather than treating it as optional, saves you from having to pick it up separately later.
